Hiking in Shivapuri Natipnal Park would be the best choice for your retreat. This Shivapuri National Park covers the area of 159 Km2 and its home too many flora & fauna found in this territory. This is the nearest national park from Capital in the world and it has got some famous wildlife habitat like wild boar, monkey, squirrel and specially different varieties of birds, therefore it could be heaven for bird watchers as well. Nagi Gumpa nun monastery is situated at an altitude of 2330 m north of Kathmandu just above Budhanilkantha Temple, from there we can see a panoromic view of kathmandu if its a clear day.

There is a place called Baghwar where river Bagmati originates which a lifeline of Kathmandu valley is serving drinking water, irrigation & creating beauty in the valley.

 

Hiking day schedule.

7:00 am: Breakfast at hotel.

8: 00 am: Drive to the northern side of Kathmandu valley starting from Budanilkantha which is famous Hindu & Buddhist pilgrim site. It is 8 km north of Kathmandu.

8:30 am: Hike to Sivapuri National Park around 20 minutes.

8: 50am: Enter the Sivapuri National Park. The Shivapuri day hiking starts from the Northern town called Budhanilkantha which is famous Hindu pilgrim site. After the hike leads towards uphill to Nagi Gompa (2330M) where Nuns practicing Buddhism can be seen which would be the best part of the hiking. Then the trail goes more upward towards Shivapuri Peak (2730M) the top of Shivapuri National Park and second highest place close to Kathmandu Valley.

From here trail goes through the northern side of Kathmandu valley starting from Budanilkantha through the dense territory we can enjoy the chirping birds and breezing pine song to the Nagi gompa

After reaching the Nagi gompa we spent some time there observing, doing meditation with excellent landscape view of Kathmandu valley can be seen on the clear days from there. 40 minute walk.

Rest. Tea coffee.

10:00 am: Hike start through the beautiful forest. The trail goes straight upward towards Shivapuri peak (2730m). 2.5 hours walk.

From the top Panoramic view of Himalaya can be seen from there on clear days and we have a crystal clear view of Gaurishankar, Langtang, and Ganesh Himal & Manaslu.

12:30 pm: Lunch. (Pack Lunch).

01:00 pm: Hike start, from top trail descends down after exploring Shivapuri Peak. We come through Nagi gompa to the Budhanilkantha where our car will pick. Hike ends here.

03: 00pm: Drive to Kathmandu hotel.
